Although, it's not the first thing built on the system it's certainly its heart and hero.

The One Ring is the inworld control collar-like device, that in contrary to the most popular items holds its state out world. The scripts are either stateless or their state is temporary. It allows to extend the usual experience to more than a device. Your state, consents, relations, and access is global across the system and it's not attached to just one item. You also can't reset the scripts to reset the state, especially to remove your owners, which means you need to be more careful with adding them.

As the minimal viable product, The One Ring replicates most of the features of the TT Nose Ring, which was available only for the Tall Tails members and tailored to ponyplay. It's why you may experience a lack of some common features in place of those that are not common in the other devices. However, the idea for further development is to cover as much as possible. Note, that although it's already packed with the features, it's still quite low script.

RLV Management

The detailed RLV management is based on the idea to provide full rlv control, that makes sense while controlling the avatar.

Unhearing

Unhearing works exactly how it worked in the TT Nose Ring. There are three types of the unhearing:

• Silenced - the subject doesn't hear the local chat at all
• Shuffled - the subject hears everything but the words are disordered. In order to understand a longer sentence, the subject must sort the words.
• Marehearing - it's the most common option for ponyplay - the subject hears trash except the list of the known words and the names

The list of the known words depends on the mindset or the custom words (in progress).

Additionally to the known words, in marehearing mode, you can use *stars to exclude some part of a sentence* from being muted. This allow to avoid using OOC to communicate with deafened subject, as it's not how OOC should be used. It also works with emotes:

will show pets, but will mute how are you.

Mindsets

The mindset defines a bottom role you have and setup your state according to the role. The initial mindsets are Pony and Mare, but that list will be extended. The mindsets provide a context of your reality.

The mindsets define the set of your default restrictions, including the complex features like unhearing. They also limit your access level.

The mindsets return to a "minimal state" on login. For example, if the mare mindset means that your inventory is blocked, then even if someone will unblock it, it will return to the blocked state on the next login. However, if someone add extra restriction, it won't be removed on the next login.

As the important note: the next login doesn't mean the same as for Second Life. There is a grace period between two logins. If you log off SL and log in in 5 minutes, the system won't consider it as login. It allows relogging and crashing without resetting the state each time. The grace period is around 30 minutes, but it's not a constant value. Take +/- 5 minutes into consideration.

Vision

Currently the vision features is quite limited, but perhaps, it will be extend in the future. Probably as the paid plugins.

Leash

It's quite self explanatory. The leash however may be in two modes currently: Leash and Reins. The default device is literally a nose ring, which means it's attached to a nose. Because of that it moves the same way as any bridle you can buy. Which also means that you can position the two invisible prims named "Reins" to match the bridle's points for the reins and use the ring's leash looking like it comes from the bridle.

Stores

Stores allow you to send the avatar to a given location and leash to given object. It is useful if you want to cage or stall your subject but you can't do it yourself or just don't feel like it. Not all subjects have the stores available. They are defined in the groups and assigned to the subject. If the subject has any assigned location, it will appear in the store menu.

Store on login aka S.o.L

The name had to be shortened due to SL's limitations. To use this feature, the subject needs to have at least one location assigned. You can pick the location the subject will be stored on login. The login grace period described above applies.

General notes

The One Ring, like the entire system, is considered early access, not because it's not ready enough to use, but mostly because it's still developed and extended and it will never be a fully closed product. The nature of the project allows to provide most of the updates without touching any inworld device. They will be just coming. However, some updates may not be compatible with a current version of the inworld scripts. Then the device will force the update by releasing the subject and becoming unusable until it's replaced with the new version.

It's absolutely necessary because the incompatible scripts may put a wearer in undefined state.

TOS Compliance

The One Ring doesn't record or process any chats outside of SL. Marehearing is made fully in the lsl scripts and it's only configured outside. If there will be any features that requires processing the chat on the server side, they will be disabled by default and require the explicit consent. If you believe that my product violates TOS at any point then it's not intentional. Please, let me know first and give a chance to comply.
